The global annual GDP is about $100 trillion...
How much of this would you think the low-carbon component is?
$1 trillion
$2?
I did a detailed estimate about a week back, based on some of our earlier work, and the answer is:
$8-10 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧
That might sound crazy.
10% of global GDP is related to climate, low carbon and sustainability?
Most people think I'm super exaggerating; especially when they learn that the global renewable energy market is just above $1 trillion.
Is there so much more to low carbon & sustainability beyond renewable energy that they can together pile up 8-10 times its market?
Yes.
Think energy efficiency; waste management; sustainable materials; low carbon mobility.
Each of the above is a sizable market.
And they all add up...
I will be glad to share my working out of the global $10 trillion low carbon economy estimate with anyone who wants to take a look - Pl DM me, or send a note to narsi@eai.in
